Château Charmail 2007 – Haut Médoc Cru Bourgeois
Situé à 2 km de Saint-Estèphe, sur la commune de Saint-Seurin de Cadourne, le château Charmail jouit d’un magnifique terroir tempéré par la Gironde qui fait environ 8km de large à cet endroit.
Bernard d’Halluin, le repreneur du domaine en 2008, aussure un travail dans le respect du terroir et de l’identié des vins du domaine, en collaborant avec l’ancien propriétaire Olivier Sèze.
J’ai dégusté le 2007 de Charmail, un vin élégant qui au potentiel de garde certain (au moins 5 ans). Son acidité suffisante pour assurer une bonne garde mais non agressive et ces tannins bien fondus en font un vin tout en douceur !
Les notes de vanille et de bois, assez présentes, devraient s’estomper avec le temps alors que les belles notes de fruits noires pourraient évoluer vers des notes de fruits plus confiturés.
Ce domaine a pour caractéristique d’offrir une belle constance au niveau qualitatif.
Pour finir, le premier vin de Charmail est en vente à un prix raisonnable, souvent inférieur à 20€ la bouteille. Un excellent rapport qualité-prix pour ce beau Haut-Médoc.

Bernard d’Halluin took over the Château in 2008, but decided to continue to work in the continuity with the former owner, Olivier Sèze.
I tasted Château Charmail 2007, a really elegant wine with a good ageing potential (at least 5 years).
The acidity is enough to ensure the ageing potential but is not agressive, so are the tannins.
Vanilla and oak notes are present but they are going to vanish with the ageing, while the beautiful black fruit notes could develop in more jammy fruits notes.
To finish with, Château Charmail 2007 is sold at a reasonable price given its quality. You’ll find Château Charmail 2007 under €20 per bottle. It is a really good bargain for a good Haut Médoc Cru Bourgeois.
